The students of the mechanical department of Kilimanoor Vidya Engineering College have developed a low-cost hybrid solar dryer for drying agricultural crops. One of the major challenges faced by farmers in agriculture is the efficient drying of agricultural crops. Drying in sunlight alone has many limitations as sunlight is not available continuously throughout the year. Products are also not safe from pests, insects and bird predators. Albin Alex, Arunraju, Ansil A and Arjun B, final year mechanical students of Vidya Engineering College, under the guidance of Assistant Professor Robin David, have built this new Sanketi to meet the needs of inclement weather and night-time drying temperatures. Principal Dr. T. Madhavraj Ravikumar, Head of Mechanical Department Bijeesh. P, Assistant Professors Naveen B, Ajayakumar AG, Trade Instructors Anilkumar VR, Suraj S and Unnikrishnan VS provided necessary assistance to the students.
